Today I would be talking about one of my favorite lipsticks in my closet-The faces Canada Satin Matte Lipstick in Jazz Berry. This was perhaps my first buy from the brand Faces and it charmed me enough to explore the brand further. The Faces Satin Matte range of lipsticks are indeed a keeper in anyone’s closet by virtue of their quality and modest pricing.

I found a description of these lipsticks in online shopping websites like Medplus Beauty.com.

The range boasts of a wide range of shades. 

Me Talk:

This lipstick has remained one of my favorites since I bought it. It is moisturizing and has a creamy texture. The finish is not the “dry matte” kind. It is in fact more satin than matte. It gives full pigmentation in 2-3 swipes. It stays easily for 3-4 hours  and fades evenly. It doesn’t stain or dry lips and makes the lips look fuller as it doesn’t accentuate the fine lines. 

The color is a mild plummy pink shade-and is very much wearable for all occasions. For daytime-it may be paired with light eye makeup-a basic liner kohl combination, whereas for night outs-this would go equally well with dark smokey eyes. What I love most is its moisturizing yet light texture-apart from the decent pigmentation and staying power. Currently I am using its second tube :) I even love its sweet mixed-fruit-jam type fragrance!!!

5)This shade is mild and is very wearable for all skin tones IMO

I consider the brand Faces to be a breath of fresh air in the Indian cosmetics market. It has brought so many wonderful products at such reasonable prices-that it is giving hard competition to all the well known brands as well as providing us-the beauty addicts-with scores of quality products at most attractive prices. I love their lipsticks-and the one I bought from my recent haul from Urban Touch is the Faces Moisture Rich Lipstick in the shade “First Lady”.

Me Talk:

I got enthusiastic recommendations of this lipstick from my buddy blogger Tapaswini - who said I must check this lipstick out sometime and that I will love it surely. I am always skeptical about buying color cosmetics from online stores as there are no reference of shades. However- thanks to Taps-I am thoroughly loving my latest online purchase from Urban Touch website-who flawlessly packed and sent me this lipstick with some discount as well.

The First Lady Shade of the Faces Moisture Rich lipstick is a poppy-pink lipcolor- err-a better description would be barbie pink :D Such a color goes with a wide range of outfits-having dark or pastel colors. It has very fine golden shimmers in the otherwise creamy lipstick. This, overall gives the lipstick a glamorous sheen-along with awesome pigmentation and opaque texture.

 This is my so called-One Swipe Lippy. I haven’t come across many lipsticks that are as pigmented as this one. But one thing-the lips must be well moisturized before applying-else what I found-is that on dry and parched lips-this lipstick feels somewhat sticky and settles on lines. 

But when I used it after giving my lips a hefty dose of a Body Shop lip balm-this lipstick felt light on lips without any cakey feel. Owing to its sheen-it gives a beautiful pout and looks good even without a liner! 

   

  And I guess procuring this lippys is not a problem anymore-with reliable online shopping websites delivering them at the drop of hats to every corners of the country.

So to sum up:

Pro Side:

1) Lovely Barbie pink shade-which will suit all complexions-and wide range of outfit colors

2) Gives an opaque finish in 1 or 2 swipes. The fine shimmer imparts the sheen to the overall look

3) Stays easily for 4-5 hours and beyond meals due to its thick texture

4) Price is very reasonable for the quality and quantity

5) Doesn’t dry lips –but as I said-it will fare best on moisturized lips 

Cons:

1) Like all creamy lippys-this transfers to cups and err other places… /wahaha

1) Availability at stores is a con-this brand is found rather selectively. Also for online buyers mainly- it is difficult to buy without seeing the shades in swatches. So I don’t know when I will be ordering the next lippy of this line-not at least before seeing swatches. Or I would have to visit Faces outlets-which is off course not available locally.

2) The Faces brand haven’t yet launched a comprehensive and updated website.

A perfect MLBB (My Lips But Better-in other words-the shades which are most close to our natural color of lips) lipstick-according to the makeup addicts like us-is a most elusive find! Sometime-they are jusssst one tone dark, sometimes-we thought “This is surely goinna work” and bought one to find it washes us out-and sometime-the most eligible choice suddenly gets discontinued!! But the need for a perfect MLBB shade-that justifies its name will remain forever. However-now beauties can sleep in peace-if they have the AVON Ultra Color Rich Lipstick in Twig!!!

Well-as I said-I found my perfect MLBB shade of lipstick in this AVON beauty! Twig is mild peachy brown in color-or rather a beautiful peach-and-crème shade packed with the usual deeply moisturizing quality of the AVON Ultra Color Rich Lipstick Range. It has great pigmentation, glossy finish and stays for a good 4 hours without meals. This shade is more on the sheer side-and hence the glossy finish-but that is not at the price of the coverage it delivers. And again, while you are wearing this lipstick, using a lipbalm isn’t needed! 

 

 I think this shade will be close to Maybelline Colorsensational lipstick in Autumn Rush-but is more moisturizing and peachier.

Pro-Side:

1) Beautiful mild peachy shade. It is sheer in finish. Perfectly non-washing-out MLBB for me!

2) Very moisturizing

3) Deep pigmentation-gives an opaque finish in 1-2 swipes. Good for pigmented lips

4) Stays long-about 3-4 hours without meal. Fades evenly

5) Price is reasonable-at offers like this-I got this beautiful lipstick at less than 160 bucks!! (2 for Rs 319 offer)

6) Wide range of colors available

Down Side:

1)Avon catalog is so misleading-without seeing reviews-its impossible to decide which one to buy
